Litany for Priests
The following Litany for priests is used in conjunction with Priest Appreciation
Day, a celebration established by the Catholic Daughters & marked every year on
the first Sunday in June.
Jesus, meek and humble in heart,
Give all priests the spirit of humility;
Jesus, poor and worn out for souls,
Give all priests thy spirit of zeal;
Jesus, full of patience and mercy for sinners,
Give all priests thy spirit of sacrifice;
Jesus, lover of the little and the poor,
Give all priests thy spirit of charity.
Mary, Queen of the Clergy, pray for us, and obtain for us numerous and holy
priests and religious. Amen.

My Breastplate
by
St. Patrick
I pray my God to give me perseverance and to grant that I bear Him faithful
witness until my death, for His Name’s sake. Amen.
Christ, be with me, Christ within me,
Christ behind me, Christ before me,
Christ beside me, Christ to win me,
Christ to comfort and restore me,
Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ in quiet, Christ in danger,
Christ in hearts of all that love me,
Christ in mouth of friend and stranger.
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.
Salvation is of the Lord,
Salvation is of the Lord,
Salvation is of the Christ,
May Your salvation,
O Lord, be ever with us

on 5 successive days, before 11 a.m. On the 5th day, the 5th set of prayers
having been completed, offer one-more set-5 Our Father’s; 5 Hail Mary’s; 5 Glory

A Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness light;
and where there is sadness, joy;
O, Divine Master, grant that I may not so
much seek to be consoled, as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
And, it is in dying that we are
Born to eternal life.

PRAYER TO ST. ALPHONSUS
(Patron of arthritis sufferers)
Saint Alphonsus, loving Father of the poor and sick, all your life you devoted
yourself with charity towards those who suffer
sickness. I invoke you as the patron of those who suffer with arthritis since
you were
afflicted with this disease in your lifetime. Look with compassion on me in my
suffering. Full of confidence in your intercession I come to you for help in my
present need…
(mention need).
Amen.

PRAYER TO ST. JOSEPH
O Blessed Saint Joseph, tenderhearted
father, faithful guardian of Jesus, chaste spouse of the Mother of God, I pray
you join with me in praising God the Father through his divine Son who died on
the cross and rose again to give us sinners new life. Through the holy Name of
Jesus, pray with me that we may obtain from the eternal Father the favor we ask
for
(state intention).
We have been unfaithful to the unfailing love of God the Father; beg of Jesus
mercy for us his brothers and sisters. Amid the splendors of God’s loving
presence, do not forget the sorrows of those who weep. By your prayers and those
of your most holy spouse, our blessed Lady, may the love of Jesus answer our
call of confident hope. Amen.
