Text Box: Text Box: 40 Days For Life…Did you know…

·	137 lives of the unborn are stopped every hour in the United States?
·	On average, one baby dies every day at Planned Parenthood in Sioux City?
·	Most women and men SUFFER from those abortions at some point in their lives?

We invite you to pray and be a voice for those who are voiceless. Pray for those who carry little ones within their womb, so they realize life is a precious gift from God and not to be disposed of.
Join us Thurs., Sept. 10, 7:00 PM, at the Marian Center @ Trinity Heights for an Informational Meeting.  The 40 Days for Life is happening: Sept. 23 to Nov. 1st -

There are several health care reform bills that have been introduced in Congress. The Catholic Church has long supported universal health care reform that respects human life and dignity, and provides access for all with a special concern for immigrants and the poor. The Church views health care as a basic right belonging to all human beings, from conception to natural death. The Church is one of the few organized groups that is advocating for health care reform that excludes funding or mandates for abortion.

A bill that passed out of the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee in early August has some negative provisions. It mandates abortion coverage in a "public" plan and some private health plans, and expands abortion funding. At the same time, there was good progress in the bill in terms of preserving conscience rights for providers on
abortion and leaving in place state laws regarding abortion.

You are requested to contact members of Congress by calling the U.S. Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121. The message is "Support health care reform that excludes mandates or funding for abortion." There is also a sample email message in the Iowa Catholic Conference "Action Center" at www.iowacatholicconferencc.org. For more information, contact the Iowa Catholic Conference at info@iowacatholicconference.org and visit www.usccb.org/healthcare.
