Vacation Bible School 2011 was held in the          
Nemaha United Methodist Church basement July 18 - 20th.         

This year's theme was "Three Simple Rules for Bible School".

        On June 26, 2011, Rev. Karen Dungan pressented the message.
She is assistant to the Bishop for Connectional Ministries.

She offered insight into Reconstruction Mission Work both local and in other countries. Her message was welcomed in our area that is recovering from tornado damage and near major flooding along the Missouri River and other rivers where many people are in need of help. Each year one or more volunteers trim back the bushes, removes weeds, adds plants and flowers where needed to the garden in front of the church.

Program by Dr. Jen Haden   •  June 5, 2011
Guatemala Medical Trip

Dr. Jennifer Haden presented a power-point program on her recent medical trip to Guatemala. She traveled to the Central American country with other medical personnel to administer first aid, medicine, and care to those who are unable to afford care or do not have access to medical facilities in the rural areas.

December 19, 2010   •  The Mystery and the Majesty

The Community Crooners presented their Christmas performance, “The Mystery and the Majesty” at Faith Lutheran Church in Early. Director Karen Blass and Narrator Robin Wissink directed the cantata by Joseph M. Martin.

Christmas Program   •   December 19, 2010


The 2010 Christmas program was presented during the service by the Sunday School students. Nicole Kleespies and LuAnn Benge narrated and participated in the program.

Ready for Christmas   •   December 5, 2010



The church looks quite festive with decorations inside and out. Volunteers waste no time in getting the decorations hung to be admired and enjoyed during the Christmas season.

Evening Storm   •   August 8, 2010

An early-evening thunder-storm Sunday night, August 8, 2010, caused several large trees in Nemaha to go down. This one blocked the street in front of the church. While the top of the tree brushed the church, there appeared to be no damage to the building.

Most of Nemaha and nearby area was without electricity for approximately 12 hours. Click Here for more photos.

Birthday Tradition   •   August 1, 2010

It has long been a tradition to celebrate birthdays of children and adults by having them come to the front of the sanctuary and put coins into a class jar with a slit cut in the metal lid.

Flor Johnson   •   July 25, 2010


Flor Johnson gave the sermon during Paster Benge's absence. She also provided special music with a solo while accompanied by her daughter at the piano.

There were 11 children who participated in this summer's Vacation Bibile School.

Karyn Brinkmeyer • February 28, 2010

SUNDAY, FEB. 28:    Karyn Brinkmeyer, singer, songwriter, and inspirational speaker was at the Nemaha UMC at 10:30 a.m.

Karyn presented a musical and verbal sermon with participation from the children and other members of the congregation.

Christmas 2009

Click Here to view scenes of the church during Christmas season 2009. The children presented their Christmas program during the church service on December 20, 2009.

There was even a visit from Santa who greeted the children and gave all the congregation candy canes.

A celebration to honor the birthday of Baby Jesus was held in the fellowship hall in the basement immediately following the service.

The members of the Nemaha and Varina United Methodist Churches were invited to an Open House on Sunday Sept. 2nd, 2007 from 5-8 p.m. at Pastor Carl and LuAnn Benge's rural home.

Everyone brought a side dish of their choice and meat was provided.
