Police Car Nemaha is covered by the Sac County Sheriff's Office. Nemaha is also covered by tactical units from other towns and cities which are trained in special crime situations.

Nemaha has Volunteer Firefighters who are on-call 24 hours a day to handle all fire and other emergencies. They have a full line of fire-fighting equipment and vehicles stored in a centrally located fire station for easy access.

The fire equipment is kept updated to serve the needs of the rural community. The current fire station was built in 1979 and also houses a community room that can be used for community events, public meetings and elections.

While Nemaha does not have a resident doctor or clinic, they are a short distance from Sac City where Loring Hospital and Trimark Clinic are located.

Loring Hospital opened its doors in September of 1950. Throughout the years, Loring has continued to grow and add services to provide healthcare to Sac County and the surrounding area. Loring Hospital is a 53 bed not-for-profit facility. Loring has 33 acute care beds and 20 long-term beds.

Some of the services at Loring include: Birthing Unit, a complete labor and delivery room. CCU (Cardiac Care Unit), Medical Surgical Unit, Ambulatory Care (Same day surgery), Swing Bed (Skilled Care-Custodial Care), Respiratory and Physical Therapy.

Trimark also has offices in Lake View, Newell, and Storm Lake.

Other hospitals are located in Storm Lake, Fort Dodge, Sioux City and Spencer with the larger hospitals offering helicoptor service for emergency transport.
