Nemaha School HistoryIn 1904 there were nine school districts in Delaware Township with the town of Nemaha at the center. These small, one-room schoolhouses were situated two miles apart each way.
It was not over three years before a wood frame schoolhouse was erected. It was a two-room wood building known as Delaware Central School. This building was replaced with a two-story brick building in 1913 (no photo). That brick building was condemned in 1920. |

![]() The people of Nemaha decided to beautify the corner lot by building a shelterhouse and Memorial Tree Arboretum. |

They held fundraisers and with volunteer help were able to erect the building with the majority of work being completed in one snowy weekend in April 1997.
