About HDCHistoric Design Consulting LLC. provides a range of consulting services for homeowners, businesses and institutions in the areas of historic design, paint colors, maintenance and preservation.HDC was founded in 2007 by Mark J. Johnston in Vadnais Heights, MN. Mark is a member of the Minnesota Society of Architectural Historians and the Association of Preservation Technology and meets the U.S. Secretary of the Interioršs Professional Qualifications Standards for history. He received his B.A. and M.A. in History from the University of Minnesota where he taught undergraduate history courses. He has worked in the construction and millwork industries and is a regular volunteer at The Landing, an 88 acre living history museum in Shakopee MN. He is involved in site interpretation, building and artifact maintenance and conservation at the Landing and works as a cabinetmaker and joiner in the Landingšs wood shop using 19th century hand tools and techniques.
