March 2, 2010

Friends

We raise Betty Schmidt and her family in our prayers tonight upon the death of her brother-in-law, Tom Gagnon.

Heavenly Father,

We lift Betty and her family in our prayers and ask you to welcome Tom into heaven where he is cured of the cancer he suffered and the other ailments reducing his quality of life. Be with all those traveling to Salt Lake City, Utah, for his funeral, including Butch and Betty. Cover them with your protection and deliver them safely there and home. Surround the family with your love, providing all they need to minister and be ministered to.

In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

March 2, 2010

This prayer request comes from a client and friend of Barb and Ann's (Sandy Hanlon):

Please pray for my dad Ralph Tompkins, age 89 who has Lypo Sarcoma and has been given 4 weeks to live.  He is living at Bickford Cottage Memory Care, Room A1.  He is not in pain.  He has memory loss so he is spared knowing much about what is going on and we thank God for that.

Heavenly Father,

We raise Ralph to you and ask for your extraordinary and unconditional love to surround him and his family in these days. We seek your comfort and the presence of your Holy Spirit for Ralph so he might know only peace and contentment. We trust you to provide what is needed for you are our sovreign and mighty God, able to see beyond what our eyes see.

In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

Friends,

We come to you with a joy and a concern tonight.

Robin applied for a grant from the Kurt Warner Foundation for the UMYF group for their Urban Plunge trip and the were awarded $1000. Please see the email notifying them of their success below.

Hello!
Congratulations! Your team has been selected to receive a $1,000 Mission: Possible! Scholarship to help offset the cost of your upcoming trip. A check will be mailed tomorrow, Monday, March 1.
We pray your trip has impact beyond your expectations and look forward to hearing from you on the outcome of the trip on all those involved.
     Safe travels!
Blessings –  The Kurt Warner First Things First Foundation

And we raise Robin's mom, Mary Korthals, in our prayers as she's recovering from hip replacement surgery last week in Sioux Falls. She has been unable to put weight on her new hip yet so has moved from the hospital to the nursing home in their hometown of George, Iowa, last Friday to recuperate. We remember Mary as well as Robin's dad, John, and their family as they work with her to recover.

Heavenly Father,

We thank you for our many blessings, for the joys and gifts you share. We are particularly grateful for the $1000 grant our UMYF group received for their mission trip. We ask your protection for them as they take this Urban Plunge. Let it be meaningful, glorifying to you, and eye-opening for the group as well as those they encounter.

We raise Mary to you in our prayers. Gracious God, we ask you to relieve her of the pain in her new hip so she can resume her normal activities. Help her to recover and be surrounded by angels assisting her. Give John and her family strength so they may aid her as well. All things are possible through you. Heal your daughter, Mary.

Amen.

THANK YOU…..
Dear Christian Friends… I can’t begin to find the words to tell you how I feel about the beautiful prayer shawl that you gave me.  I wore it almost every day I was at Twilight Acres, and wish you could have heard the compliments I received from both men and women asking where I got it.  Through my tears, I said from the wonderful friends at United Methodist Church of Early.
It is so wonderful to be home again to our great little town, although I won’t be able to get out for awhile with our horrible weather.  Thanks for all the calls, cards, and prayer chains.
                       In Christian Love,
                        Leila K. Smith

Prayer request from Clarisa Mascher last evening. "I wanted to let everyone
know that my dad, Stanley Johnson, made it through shoulder surgery
today. He didn't get in until 11 a.m. instead of 7:30 a.m. but the
surgeon was pleased with how everything went."

We also want to keep Gene and Wilma Werner and their family in our
prayers in that it appears that Gene will soon be joining our Lord and
Saviour in Heaven.

Father in Heaven, Thank you for the gift of skillful hands and minds
which have been used in behalf of Stanley. Thank you for the gift of
care, kindly administered through nurses, doctors, aids and orderlies.
THank you for easing pain. Make Stanley comfortable. Help him recover.
If it be Your will, grant Stanley a speedy recovery. Strengthen
Stanley in spirit as well as in body. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Dear Heavenly Father, It it be Your will that Gene should come home
with You, let Your holy angels bring him into Your presence where
there is no more suffering and sin, but joy forevermore. Forgive
Gene's sins and accept him for Jesus' sake. Strengthen his loved ones'
faith and keep them close to You. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Our  prayers and sympathy are with the family of Mary Jo Hays of Washington, Iowa.  She is the wife of John  Hays who is  the creator of the water gizmo for purifying water in Third World Countries.  Many of you will remember them as they spoke to us about this project on June 7, 2009, at a joint service of the Odebolt & Early churches.

Thank you for your contribution to Skow Cottage.  We appreciate that you have made Christmas better for all of us.  We wish you a Happy New Year!

Our Appreciation….
…to all who helped in taking down the Christmas decorations.
...to those who continue to help with snow removal at the church.
…to those who have been helping with tree branch removal after the ice storm.  If you’d like to volunteer to help, that would be great!!
