Our Work:
Women have always been active in the work of the Early United Methodist Church. Their work has been well organized and developed, and there has been a great interest in missions. Organizations have been formed to meet the needs of the church throughout the years, and many capable ladies have served as president and have taken other offices in the local society as well as on district and conference levels.
History: The Woman's Society of Christian Service was organized in 1940. The three active organizations of the church, Ladies Aid Society, Foreign Missionary Society and Home Missionary Society, were combined into one society. A Wesleyan Service Guild was organized in 1941 under the sponsorship of the W.S.C.S. The Guild was an organization for the business and professional women of the community and was an active organization for about seven years. During the mid-70's, the unification of the Methodist Church and the Evangelical United Brethren Church brought about a reorganization and name change for the women's organization. It is now called the United Methodist Women (U.M.W.) of the Early United Methodist Church. There are 40 members of the local unit.
Activities: During the year the dedicated members of the UMW host a Soup Luncheon, a Women's Brunch, and their Annual Christmas Capers. They respond to human need through action and reflection during times that the parishioners are in need by serving funeral lunches and dinners. Mission studies are an important part of their program, and they continue to participate in mission giving by supporting The Ingathering, Shesler Hall, Bidwell Riverside, Hawthorne Hill, and local community projects.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
COMMUNITY
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL 2009 JULY 12-16TH, 2009
Vacation Bible School started on Sunday, July 12th and ran through Thursday,
July 16th in Early. The United Methodist Church hosted the VBS with the help
of many volunteers from the community. The Directors of the program this
year were Jeanette Weber and Marge Cuthrell, both from early.
The program was great fun for all the children as they went to camp E.D.G.E.
The children started the night with songs and stories which Jeanette and
Marge told and they also had help from their friend Sparks (a puppet). The
children would then break up into groups and travel to different camps and
learn about God. One Camp group went to "Galilee" with the help of Mr. &
Mrs. Bihrers. Another camp was the "Upper Room" with Brian Pickhinke and
Bill Cougill helping out. One group also went to The Promise Land with the
help from Tami Hoeppner. Another group of campers got to go to Bethlehem
with the help from Robin Wissink and a compass. Another Group of very small
campers found their way all over with their guide Gen Hill. The night didn't
end there as the campers made crafts and had snacks. A couple of young
campers were asked what they learned at camp and they said, "God Loves You!"
A
special thank you to all who helped in any way with Vacation Bible School,
July 12-16, 2009. Camp E.D.G.E. was an extreme adventure camp taking kids
on exciting Bible treks to experience and discover God everywhere, every
day. Donations for the local Food Pantry were collected and will be
distributed.
