ADMINISTRATIVE COUNCIL MEETING
SEPTEMBER 21, 2011
Pastor DeeAnn Klapp opened the meeting
with prayer at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2011. Minutes of the previous
meeting were read and corrected.
Rich Mason reported for the Trustees. They are still trying to
locate a company to check the roof of the educational wing. Herb Padgett
recommended R. L. Kraft of Denison. Other projects still on the agenda include
work on the south driveway, the dishwasher and possible new flooring in the
Furrow Hall kitchen, some issues with Control Systems, and painting & carpet in
the educational wing hallway.
Herb Padgett gave the Treasurer’s report. Outstanding bills were to
Mid American & The Gideons. Dennis Steele, financial secretary, provided a
written report in his absence. Budget giving to-date: Budget: $51,906.62; Mid
American: $1450; Other: $7,792.17; Bequest: $5,000: Total: $66,148.79
Deb Galvin reported for the Outreach Committee stating there were 18
school bags completed and they have a goal of filling 50 bags before the
Thanksgiving Ingathering on Nov. 5th.
Jeannette Weber reported
for the Christian Ed. Department. They have decided on curriculum goals for
each grade, and can always use more volunteers for the Sunday School program.
They’d also like to see a 7 & 8th grade class and an adult class.
Music will be held from 10-10:15 a.m. with Sunday School from 10:15 to 11 a.m.
Jeannette stated that Pennie Irwin had spoken of Early’s 130th
Anniversary next year, and the committee is looking for people to participate in
any way.
Anita Mason reported membership at 141 and asked for approval of
names for the 1st and 2nd readings for the Annual Charge
Conference. Letters will be sent to these people requesting their desires
regarding church membership and visits will be made. The Endowment Account
balance was down from last month’s balance. Wiring of the air conditioner in
the office by The Electric Co. of Odebolt, was paid from this account. Anita
also reported that the Memorial Committee had purchased 6 chairs for the
Pastor’s study and two new candle lighters.
Pastor DeeAnn stated that her trip to Scotland will be delayed until
the end of November so she will be here the 5th Sunday of October but
will be gone on December 4th. Communion will be held on Dec. 11th.
A special Finance meeting will be held on Wed., Sept. 28th at 8 p.m.
to prepare the 2012 Budget. The Ad. Council will have a short meeting following
church on Oct. 2 to approve the budget. A Prayer Garden service will be planned
for next spring. The previous confirmation class wants to continue meeting, so
Pastor & Dawn Freese are planning a study for them after school on the 2nd
& 4th Wednesdays. “How Am I Wired” will be the topic of the study
sessions. The new Bible study, “Cruising Through the Bible” began on Sept. 20th.
All are invited to participate. The Annual Charge Conference will be held on
Tuesday, Oct. 18th at the Early UMC at 6 p.m. There will be no
confirmation class this year.
The rest of the evening was spent completing Charge Conference
reports. The meeting ended with reciting of the Lord’s Prayer.
