ADMINISTRATIVE COUNCIL
JANUARY 19, 2011
Chairman John Weber opened the meeting at 8
p.m. Pastor DeeAnn led in prayer. Minutes of the last meeting were read and
approved.
Ann presented the financial report for the end of 2010 and up
through the 3rd Sunday of January, 2011. The year-end total for 2010
was $72,702.20 (received); The total for the 3 Sundays of January 2011 was
$5,808.25.
Rich Mason reported for Trustees. One of the first projects to be
addressed will be new lights and carpet in the hall of the education wing plus
carpet in pastor’s study. He presented a recommendation to use money from the
sale of the parsonage to help Odebolt defray expenses on the use of their
parsonage. Ann pointed out that we cannot use the money from the sale of our
parsonage for anything other than housing here. We can use the interest from the
parsonage sale for other purposes. The matter was tabled for the time being.
Pastor stressed we must do something to update the music and power
point as soon as possible to bring it up to date. Our set-up is pretty
primitive and not very efficient. She urged the trustees to check into other
churches to get some ideas as how to proceed.
UMW is on hold for the time being. Monthly meetings have been
suspended until further notice. Special events will still be planned and held
to support us financially and funeral lunches will go on as usual.
Anita stated membership stands at 139 following the death of LaVerne
Geisinger. Endowment fund has shown an increase in the last few months. She
had been contacted by the piano tuner, and it was decided tuning should be done
prior to the Mt. Zion Baptist choir’s visit March 26.
Thank you’s were read from Anita Mason and Pastor for Christmas
gifts. Jeannette reported for Christian Ed. The last day of Sunday
School and picnic will be May 15. Vacation Bible School is set for the week of
July 10. The children’s bell choir is practicing the Doxology for next Sunday
and also plans to play on Palm Sunday which is tentatively planned as
Confirmation Sunday.
Deb Galvin stated Outreach had not met tonight but they have several
ideas to work on.
Pastor has the last Sunday of January off and Dawn Freese will fill
the pulpit that day.
SPPR, Endowment and Memorial committees will hold meetings in the
near future. Memorial committee has been asked to purchase 6 chairs to be used
in Pastor’s study around the conference table.
Pastor DeeAnn said an omelet brunch will be held February 20 after worship to
raise funds for the Mt. Zion Baptist Choir who will present their program March
26. Confirmation is going well and the materials used are very good. Pastor
plans to exchange the weekend of April 30/May 1 for May 30/31.
Finance
committee recommended paying 50% of 2011 apportionments now and the remainder
later. The total of the apportionments is $14,070. Motion was made by Ann Ray
and seconded by Randy Galvin to pay ½ of the apportionment now. All in favor.
Pastor also
plans to be gone the end of July for a trip to Sri Lanka.
Ann also
brought up the need for another spiritual renewal event at our church and a
follow-up fundraiser. She stated she and Robin Wissink will attend Lay Speaker
School in March. Expenses will be paid by the church.
